In town for a business trip, I took some time off on a Friday afternoon to walk through downtown Los Angeles from the campus of LA Trade Tech College to my hotel near Bunker Hill. Popular opinion in some circles have written off this section of the city as a total wasteland, but that is not what I experienced. For certain it's a little gritty and rough around the edges, but that's exactly what geniuses like Charles Bukowski taught us to see and love.
