In 2023 I finally had the chance to tour the Dana-Thomas House, a masterpiece designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1904. This home is on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 2017, while moving from California to Michigan, I had intended to stop in Springfield to see this house. On the same trip, I had also wanted to see Wright's Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, but circumstances prevented me from seeing either at that time.
I was fortunate that our tour group was small and I was able to take snapshots at will. Like all great buildings, it is impossible to take it all in during a single encounter, and the photos help remind me of what I thought was interesting and important and worth further investigation. Some drawings of this house are in my Dover Publications reprint of the Wasmuth Portfolio, originally published in Berlin, Germany in 1910.
