Scenes from our first day in Reykjavik. Highlights for me were moss covered headstones in the cemetery, moss covered guardrails on a bridge, moss filled joints between paving stones, the prismatic Harpa concert hall by Henning Larsen Architects and Olafur Eliasson, and the City Hall and Supreme Court buildings by Studio Granda Architects. The general colorfulness of the vernacular architecture and decorative detailing in corrugated metal were pleasant surprises to me.
Not pictured - fresh bread, creamy butter, hot soup, and no sunset.
