When I lived in Tucson, going down into Mexico was a regular occurrence. I mostly would go to the border town of Nogales to buy crafts for my home or as gifts for friends. On this occasion I drove down Highway 15 to the state capital of Hermosillo, staying overnight, and came back north along a parallel path to the east passing through several small towns with mission churches. I have long since lost my copy of Richard Kandik's road trip guide to Northwest Mexico, so I can't tell you exactly where I was. I have no written notes of the buildings I saw; just photographs and memories.
