"Economics is the science of the employment of human abilities in the production of human utilities."
I came across this definition of Economy several years ago in A.R. Orage's book "An Alphabet of Economics". Never before had I head economics described in a way that fully grounds it in human action. It is often described as some abstract consequence of working, buying, selling, forecasting, investing, and so on. The description of Urbanity as a circuit for distributing human energy is my own, and once I joined it along with Community, I started to get a clearer sense of things. It isn't about money specifically, but rather the pooling of ideas, talents, love and support that makes a place vibrant and alive.
